Richard Dale “Rick” Johnson, 43, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday – (November 26, 2013) on the family farm.
The son of Calvin “Ben” and Margaret (McClanahan) Johnson, he was born April 17, 1970 in Kirksville, Missouri. On November 28, 1992, Rick was united in marriage to Becky Schoonover and to this union two children were born.
Rick is survived by his father and stepmother, Ben and Connie Johnson of Kirksville, MO; his mother and stepfather, Margaret and Harold Quint of Kirksville, MO; one son, Riley Johnson of Kirksville, MO; one daughter and son-in-law Bailey and Chris Nacy of Jefferson City, MO; his grandmother, Mary Bragg of Kirksville, MO; one sister, Ashley Cusick of Des Moines, IA; one step brother, Josh Quint of Kansas City, MO; one step sister, Windea Quint of Columbia, MO; two nephews, Brady Johnson of Hurdland and Braiden Seuferer of Des Moines, IA; his special girlfriend, Michelle Jordan and her children: Amy Head and her son Brentlee, Derek Head and William Jordan; and one step-niece, Amber Spencer of Columbia, MO. Rick was going to be a first-time grandpa in July.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and one brother, Randy in 1996.
Rick graduated from high school in Ewa Beach, Hawaii in 1988. After graduating he served his country in the United States Army three years. At that time, Rick moved to Kirksville, Missouri and went to work a short time for Florsheim Shoe Factory. He later worked at Adair Foods, Standard Register and four years for Adair Co. Concrete. At the time of his death, Rick had been employed as a car salesman four years for Lovegreen Ford and loved his job.
Rick was a great coach and coached his daughter’s softball team. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, 4-wheeling and spending time on his grandpa’s farm.
He was a member of N.R.A. and former member of D.A.V. of Kirksville.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday (November 30, 2013) with family receiving friends from 11:00 to 2:00 p.m. service time in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville. Pastor Ralph Wheeler will officiate the service and interment with military honors will follow the service at Refuge Cemetery north of Kirksville.
Pallbearers will be Riley Johnson, Brady Johnson, Hunter Bender, Dennis McClanahan, Chuck Hayes and Justin Coy. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Lovegreen, Chris Nacy, Brock Powell, John Bender, Gary Mitchell and Chris Ashford.
