Delma Louise Danner, 96, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Monday (February 27, 2012) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.
The daughter of Clarence and Bessie (Bybee) Wellman, she was born October 20, 1915 in Connelsville, Missouri. On June 5, 1935, Delma married James Franklin Danner and they went to live in Macon County, Missouri, where they farmed until 1968. At that time, her husband began work in construction in Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska, until retiring and returning to the Kirksville area in 1975.
Her husband Jim preceded Delma in death in 1983. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Ronald Duane in infancy; two daughters, Joyce Ann and Laura Faye; her step-mother Flo Wellman; four brothers, Russell, Alvin, Glenn and Joe Bob Wellman and four sisters, Mary Traw, Gladys Cooper, Naomi Rifley and Eunice Dornberger.
Delma is survived by three sons, James Danner and wife Nancy of Freeman, MO, Garry Danner of Kirksville, MO and Bill Danner of Edgerton, KS; two daughters, Mary Cassady of Novinger, MO and Delma Larsen of Wheat Ridge, CO; one sister, Eunice Dornberger of Chillicothe, MO; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; several step great great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Delma loved visiting her family, traveling, quilting, embroidery, crocheting and reading her Bible. She had resided the past four years at Twin-Pines Adult Care Center and enjoyed visits from family and special friends, Alfreda James and Marty Yadon, as well as others who stopped by.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday (March 2, 2012) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Glenn Archer officiating. Music selections “One Day At A Time” and “In The Garden” will be provided by Twila Jones, who will be accompanied by Dianthe Cable, organist. Interment will follow the service at Novinger Cemetery in Novinger, Missouri.
Family will receive friends one hour before service time on Friday (March 2, 2012) in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be John Danner, Bryan Danner, Dwayne Cassady, Derick Cassady, Brent Sauer and Calen Moody. Honorary bearers will be David Sauer and Scott Sauer.
