Rosena Belle (Prather) Davison, 82, of LaPlata, Missouri, passed away Monday (October 1, 2012) at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
The daughter of Henry Jesse and Mabel Esther (Iaiser) Prather, she was born November 23, 1929 in Yarrow, Missouri. On February 12, 1949 in Canton, Missouri, Rosena was united in marriage to Barton Davison.
Rosena is survived by her husband, Barton Davison of sixty-three years; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Jenita Davison of LaPlata, MO; three daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Melvin Dennis of North Glen, CO, Teresa and David Matteson of Columbia. MO and Cinda and Carl Mitchell of LaPlata, MO; one sister, Jean Coglianese of Macon, MO; two sisters-in-law, Geraldine Prather of LaPlata, MO and Evelyn Kellison of Kirksville, MO; nine grandchildren, Charles (Trisha) Davison, Audrea (Brett) Jackson, Sarah (Ryan) Halstead, Nathan Davison, Stephanie McDonald, Jeremy Matteson, Joe Matteson, Ryan Matteson and Aaron Mitchell and thirteen great-grandchildren, Ty Davison, Jessica Davison, Trey Jackson, Bethany Jackson, Logan Halstead, Piper Halstead, Jason McDonald, Oliver Matteson, Aidan Matteson, Andrew Matteson, David Matteson, Dylan Mitchell and Hailey Mitchell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; two sisters and one grandchild, James Matteson.
Rosena was a life-long resident of Adair County and was a graduate from Kirksville High School. She was a homemaker who enjoyed embroidering, cooking, collecting cook books, reading and Chalk art work. Her love for family was enormous and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was a member of W.P.F.A., NFO, AAM Extension Council and she was a member of the FSA Board.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday (October 4, 2012) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Hills Prather presiding. Her granddaughters will be singing, “In the Garden” and “Old Rugged Cross”.
Family will receive friends one hour before the service on Thursday (October 4, 2012) in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brett Jackson, Charles Davison, Aaron Mitchell, Joe Matteson, Jeremy Matteson, Ryan Matteson, Ryan Halstead and Nathan Davison.
As to her wishes, Rosena will be cremated following her service.
