David Lee Martin, 60, of Novinger, Missouri, passed away Tuesday (August 2, 2011) at his home.

The son of Leo and Opal (Thorington) Martin, he was born November 11, 1950 in Bettendorf, Iowa. On July 3, 1969 David married Ladona “Katie” Harris.

David is survived by one daughter, Sara Risher of Novinger, MO; two sons, Dustin Martin Novinger, MO and Tyler Summers of Greentop, MO; three grandchildren, Tristan Risher, Chaten Risher and Sadie Summers and special friend, Teresa Phillips. Also surviving are three sisters, Lowene Helms of Davenport, IA, Josephine Wallace and husband Ora and Jolene McKim and husband “Butch” all of Novinger, MO; three brothers, Alva Martin and wife Doris, Daniel Martin and Dean Martin and wife Connie all of Novinger, MO, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Larry and Clinton and a special friend, Debbie McKonkey.

David received his education in the Novinger public schools. He was a used car dealer, worked construction, and did mechanical and auto body work for 36 years. David was always willing to help anyone who needed help.

He loved music and played lead guitar and sang with several bands.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday (August 6, 2011) with family receiving friends from noon until service time in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville. The Reverend Alan Coonfield will officiate the service. Interment will follow the service at Green Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Loren Martin, Terry Martin, Michael Martin, Shane Nelson, Dwight Nelson and Roger Davis. Honorary bearers will be Ron Cassady, Loren “Bull” Davis, Jerry Branch, Danny Mahurin, Bruce May and all of his nephews.
