Mona O. Chrisman, 94, of Novinger, Missouri, passed away Wednesday (October 12, 2011) at her home under the care of her family and Hospice of Northeast Missouri.

The daughter of George and Gracie Jane (Scott) Stafford, she was born February 18, 1917 in Greentop, Missouri. On December 9, 1934 in Kirksville, Missouri, Mona was united in marriage to Walter “Lee” Chrisman who preceded her in death on September 22, 1978.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Sharon Boecker on November of 2010; two sisters, Pearl Neff and Beatrice Miller; five brothers, Audrey, Jim, Ted, Glen and Oren Stafford; one son-in-law, Reverend Roy C. Starbuck; seven grandchildren, Timothy Starbuck, David Chrisman, Randy Chrisman, Debbie Chrisman and three in infancy as well as three great-grandchildren, Ryan McNamar and two in infancy.

Mona is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Duane and Jeanetta Chrisman of Kirksville, MO, Roger and Lois Chrisman of Green Castle, MO, Aaron and Jackie Chrisman of Greentop, MO, Bradley and Betty Chrisman of Kirksville, MO and Michael and Arlene Chrisman of Kirksville, MO; two daughters and a son-in-law, Grace Starbuck of Queen City, MO and Christine and Edward Pierce of Pleasant View, TN; one brother and sister-in-law, Clarice and Wanda Stafford of Unionville, MO; one son-in-law, Alfred Jr. Boecker of Greentop, MO; twenty-five grandchildren; fifty-one great-grandchildren; twenty great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mona was a lifelong resident of Putnam County and received her education in Adair County. She was a homemaker who enjoyed reading (especially the Bible), sewing, embroidering and flowers. Mona loved spending time with her family and listening to them play and sing music.

She attended Martinstown Free Will Baptist Church where she was active in the Ladies Auxiliary. Mona last attended the Connelsville Baptist Church until her health failed.

Public visitation will be held Friday (October 14, 2011) with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday (October 15, 2011) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home, with Reverend John Howell officiating. Music selections will be provided by her family. Interment will follow the service at Hazel Creek Cemetery, northwest of Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Starbuck, Ron Chrisman, Micheal Chrisman, Jason Chrisman, Jonathan Pierce and Daniel Starbuck.
