Armin Lee Dodsworth, 80, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Saturday (November 1, 2014) at Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville.

The son of George and Garnett (Rigdon) Dodsworth, he was born August 9, 1934 in Kirksville, Missouri. On August 22, 1954 in Fulton, Missouri, Armin was united in marriage to Wilma Jean Cole.

Armin is survived by his wife Wilma of sixty years; one daughter and son-in-law, Arjeana and Ed Haynes of Moberly, MO; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Randy and Marilyn Dodsworth, Kevin and Tammy Dodsworth and Brian Dodsworth all of Kirksville, MO; one brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Ann Dodsworth of Fulton, MO; one sister and brother-in-law, Twila and Cohen Walters of Kirksville, MO; seven grandchildren, Lincoln and Joe Haynes and Ryan, Brock, Josh, Jennifer and Jamie Dodsworth, and nine great-grandchildren, Connor, Cruze, Jillian and Kensley Haynes and Jack, Katherin, Whitney, Collin and Jackson Dodsworth.

Armin started working for McGraw Edison and worked there for several years. He then started D&W Salvage, a business in which he was co owner. Sometime later, Armin started Dodsworth Roofing Company and also did paving. He then started Dodsworth Lumber Yard, owned a lumber yard in Brashear, and opened a youth center to give kids something to do and keep them out of trouble. He had a heart for youth. Some years later he started a dairy farm. Armin was last employed for Hy-Vee and retired after fifteen years. The job that he enjoyed the most was traveling across the country transporting Amish from state to state and town to town. He loved the children, the people laughed at his jokes, put up with his slow driving, and he made dear and lasting friendships. Armin was a people person and would stop total strangers just to find out where they were from and if they knew any of the same people.

The life long hobby that he is most known for, and brought him great enjoyment, was his ability and talent of drawing and painting. He has painted pictures, saw blades, pans, wood, etc. for many people across the years.

Family was what was most important to Armin, he loved being with and doing things for his family, and being a Dad, grandpa and great-grandpa, and will be missed.

Armin was a devoted member of Church of Holiness in Kirksville.

Public visitation is in progress and family will receive friends this evening, Monday (November 3, 2014) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday (November 4, 2014) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastors Bill Hayton and Ralph Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow the service at East Center Cemetery, east of Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Bill Sutton Sr., Jerry Dodsworth, Moses Burkholder, Ezra Miller, Glen Snyder, Curt Gordon, Bud Niccum and Thomas Brawner.
