Clyde Alan Cody of Kirksville, MO, died at home Thursday, February 21, 2013, at the age of 72.

Clyde was born February 3, 1941, at home near Millard, Missouri, the son of Warren and Dorsie (Wolf) Cody. He was the fourth child with two twin sisters and one brother. On August 27, 1960, in Kirksville, Clyde was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Beatrice Neely, who survives of the home.

Also surviving is his son, Gregory, his wife Velva, of Millard along with three grandchildren: Melanie, Elizabeth, and Emmett. Other surviving family includes his sister, Ilene Baldwin of Kirksville, MO; sister-in-law, Jolene Cody of Columbia, MO; three brothers-in-law, Bert Crowder and wife Mary of California, Ray Neely and wife Shirley of Kirksville, MO, and Rick Neely and wife Sue of Kirksville, MO, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Clyde in death were his parents, one sister, Arlene, one brother, Gail and two nephews.

Clyde attended school at Millard and Kirksville, graduating with the Kirksville High School Class of 1959.

During his life Clyde worked at McGraw Edison for thirteen years, the Kirksville Airport for eleven years, and most recently at Truman State University for eighteen years as Assistant Building Supervisor in the Student Union Building until his health failed. Other jobs included Troy Mills General Store, Adair County Sheriff’s Office, Adair County Assessor’s Office, and Wal-Mart. He was also a board member of the Adair County Public Water Supply, and he continued as a volunteer reserve deputy for the Sheriff’s Department for several years.

Clyde’s interests included maintaining his garden, working outdoors, and tackling many projects with his shop tools. His biggest project was building the home for Bea and himself, which they have lived in for thirty-eight years. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends.

Clyde never saw a stranger and was a friend to everyone. He loved swapping stories and joking with those he loved. As a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend he will be sadly missed.

Public visitation will be held Tuesday (February 26, 2013) with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday (February 27, 2013) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Elder Raymond Webb and Reverend Stan East officiating. Music selections “In The Garden” and “One Day At A Time” will be provided by Melodie Sevits who will be accompanied by Dianthe Cable, organist. Entombment will follow the service at Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Brad Neely, Jason Neely, Steve Cody, Bryan Thomas, Larry Coy and Joel Western.
