Leo D. Shaw, 84, of Brashear, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at his home.
Leo was born August 11, 1940 in Downing, Missouri, to the late Maude (Waddle) Wiyrick and Pearl (Bud) Wiyrick and the late Burl Shaw. Leo was also preceded in death by his sister Linda Peavler on February 23, 2025.
Leo is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Reta and Doug Meline of Kirksville, Missouri; two nephews, Trey (Beth) Meline of Kirksville, and Ronnie Rouse Jr. of Kirksville; one great-niece, Stella Meline of Kirksville and good friend Darryl O'Haver.
Leo attended Kirksville Schools and the Floral Design School in Chicago, Illinois. He joined the United States Navy in 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1964 with tours in the Southern Pacific and Vietnam. He was then employed by MaGraw Edison and DeRosears. Leo opened his own floral shop, Leo's Flowers on the east side of the square in Kirksville. When he later closed his shop he was then employed by Lambert Manufacturing before working and retiring from Standard Register. Years later he worked part-time for the Hy-Vee Floral Shop in Kirksville and drove for the Amish community.
Leo had a talent for floral designing, which he passed along to his sister. He was a great friend to many and would do anything for his friends. He used to love going pontooning, fishing, and camping with his nephew, Trey. Leo loved living in the country with his dogs and the peace it brought him. He had many dogs over the years, but he had a once in a lifetime dog named Squeezer, that he still grieved for through the years. Leo will be missed and always loved by his family.
Leo has been cremated and a memorial service in his honor will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Ron Fisher officiating. A public visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. until the start of the service.
Memorial donations in memory of Leo may be made to the Adair County Humane Society. Donations may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
