Janet Marie (Laske) Reed, 87, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024 at The Pines in Kirksville.

Born July 21, 1937 in Novinger, Missouri, Janet was the daughter of the late Glen Dale and Christine (Skender) Laske. On September 26, 1956 in Minot, North Dakota Janet was united in marriage to Marvin Wayne Reed who preceded her in death on January 1, 1994. She was also preceded in death by two sons Terry Alan Reed and Daniel Wayne Reed, and one brother, Glen Dale Laske Jr.

Janet is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Janet Reed, and David and Louise Reed all of Kirksville, MO; ten grandchildren, Tiffany and Michael Athon, Tabitha and Jonathan Cleaver, Brooke Eskridge (Jud), Stephanie Reed (Jace), Tyler Reed (Leah), Alexandra Speer (Mark), Jordan Reed, Heather and Mark Tipton, Nicole and Drew Myers, and Tara Gronauer (Jeff); eighteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Janet was a graduate from Novinger R-I High School. She then attended Northeast Missouri State Teacher's College where she received her Associate Degree. Janet worked a number of years for the License Bureau, later for the Adair County Collectors Office and last for Larry Gardner's Accounting Firm before retiring.

Janet was a member of the D.A.V. Women's Auxiliary where she served as treasurer and was a member of the First Christian Church where she served as chair of the funeral luncheons.

Janet loved camping, making candy and baking, but most of all she had a great love for her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Public visitation will be held Sunday, October 6, 2024 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 7, 2024 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home with Pastor Darrell Crooks officiating. Cremation will follow the service.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Reed, Ben Athon, Reed Athon, Jesse Athon, Lucas Athon, Brighton Cleaver, Toby Cleaver, Nicholas Rhoads, Lucas Rhoads, Alex Myers, Gabe Myers, Reece Gronauer, Carter Eskridge, and Liam Eskridge.

Memorial donations in memory of Janet may be made to D.A.V. Chapter 48 or to the St. Judes Children's Hospital and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
