John Vincent Erhart, 77, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at his home.
The son of the late Vincent Leroy and Lela Winifred (Ledbetter) Erhart, he was born October 20, 1943 in Nebraska City, Nebraska. On July 6, 1991 at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Kirksville, Missouri, John was united in marriage to Patricia M. Jackson.
John is survived by his wife Patty of twenty-nine years; one daughter and three sons, Tammy Jo Spudich (Tom) of Lake St. Louis, MO Sir Derek Jon Erhart (Susan) of O'Fallon, MO, Christopher Jon Erhart of Kirksville, MO, and Anthony B. Wharton of Gadsden, AL. Two brothers, James Erhart of Honolulu, HA, Bob Erhart (Toni) of Keokuk, IA. Five sisters Virginia Hoefer (Ron) of Dubuque, IA, Teri Kern (Rick) of Minneapolis, MN, Peggy Klun (Tom) of Lakeland, MN, Carol Erhart (Zul Abu) of Chicago IL, Donna Erhart of MN, former wife Karen Bealmer of Macon, MO and one brother in-law Bill Weidemann of Dubuque, IA. 13 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Mary Ann Weidemann and one brother, William Erhart.
John graduated from Wahlert High School in Dubuque, IA in 1961, received his BA Degree at Loras College in Dubuque, IA in 1965 and his PhD at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL in 1970.
John was a member of Knights of Columbus and of the Kirksville Country Club. He served twice as President of Parish Council of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church and capacities within the Parish, and five years as Treasurer of the Alamo Palm Recreation Club.
A private Mass will be held by Monsignor David Cox and music will be provided by Sherry Wray. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at a later date to honor John's life.
