Robert "Bob" Duane Cowell, 77, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

The second oldest son to Novel and Vera (Nason) Cowell, Bob was born on May 8, 1941 in Ottumwa, Iowa. On September 1, 1963 in Lancaster, Missouri, Bob was united in marriage to Ann Carpenter.

Bob is survived by his wife Ann of fifty-five years; one son, Scott Dwyane Cowell and wife Randi of Havana, IL; one daughter Teresa Ross of Kirksville, MO; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann Sue and Malcom Giguere of Port Charlotte, FL, and Donna and Gary Dusenberg of Blue Springs, MO; five grandchildren, Madison Lyn Cowell, Nichlaus Lloyd Cowell, Abigail Ann Cowell, Maxwell Philip Ross and Dane Robert Ross; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Amy and William Hubbard of Kirksville, MO, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded by his parents Novel and Vera Cowell and one brother Bill Cowell.

Bob grew up in the Worthington, Missouri community and attended Queen City High School, graduating with the Class of 1959. He then attended Truman State University and later moved to Washington, D.C. where he took a position with the FBI, later other Govt. offices such as DOD and Food & Drug. In the fall of 1977 Bob retired from the Govt. and moved from Arkansas to Missouri where he was a self-employed small business owner. Bob will be remembered for his love of flying (for over fifty years), for the State of Florida where he and Ann spent twenty years enjoying trips, but most of all for the love of his family and time spent with his grandchildren.

Bob was a member of the Kirksville Moose Lodge 1751 and of Masonic Lodge 105 AF & AM.

Public visitation will be held Tuesday, November 6, 2018 with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home with Kyle Caraway presiding. Interment will follow at Queen City Cemetery in Queen City, MO.

Pallbearers will be Gary Cowell, Wendell Gehrke, Gary Dusenberg, Jim Bergman, Fred Clark, and Roger Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Patterson, Nick Cowell, Maxwell Ross and Dane Ross.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Queen City Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
