Robert Lee Russell, 77 passed away March 4th, 2018 at Overland Park Regional Hospital, the result of complications from pneumonia.
The son of Clifford Wayne and Elizabeth Pearl (Salisbury) Russell, Robert was born September 11, 1940 in Kirksville, Missouri. A graduate of Kirksville High School, “Bobby” loved sports, excelling in baseball earning a pitching position with minor league franchise the Burlington Bee’s. Along with his father, Bobby founded the Kirksville Golden Eagles of the Ban Johnson League, he later enjoyed coaching his grandson along with his son. He enjoyed fishing and watching both car and motocross racing. He especially liked any activity involving his children, grandchildren and brothers.
Mr. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, one brother “Larry Russell”, and his wives Patricia Brown Russell, Helen Russell and Willa June Russell.
He is survived by his daughter Lori Russell-Peitz, husband Duane of Olathe, KS., Son Allen Russell of Olathe, KS. Grandchildren Ryan, Allysa, Trey, Tanner, Ryder Russell and Adam Peitz. Brothers Jerry, (Dorene Martin), Jay, (Barbara Neis) and Rick Russell. Nieces and Nephews Brian, Traci, Shawn, Tiffany, Rickey, Christie, Olivia and Dane Russell.
Mr. Russell served over 10 years as an officer with the Kirksville Police Department, Served as Kirksville City Councilmen and retired from Wal-Mart, he was also an active member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10th at the Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, Missouri, with Pastor Larry Gibson officiating. Family will receive friends on Saturday from 10am to service time. Interment will follow the service at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.
