Paul Travers Lay, 73, of Greentop, Missouri, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Riverbend Heights Health & Rehabilitation in Lexington, Missouri.

Paul was born September 18, 1950 the son of Gilbert Verlen and Hilda Pearl (Ladwig) Lay at Laughlin Hospital in Kirksville, Missouri.

Paul grew up on the family farm west of Greentop, went to school at Davis rural school through 8th grade, then attended Queen City High School, and begin his freshman years at Greentop High School, graduating in 1968. On April 5, 1974, Paul was united in marriage to Linda Drury who preceded him in death in 2006. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Lay and Terrill Lay; his parents; grandparents; and two aunts.

Paul is survived by three children, one daughter, Dawn Anderson and two sons, Chad (Kara) Lay and Todd Lay all of Greentop, MO; one sister Glenna (John) Taylor of Kirksville, MO; four grandchildren, Tyler (Destiny) Sullivan, Dillon Sullivan, Emilee (Adam) Billington, and Trevlar Lay; six great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Paul started working at an early age for Laudwig Farms , Mitchell Used Auto, Greentop Implement Company, and was last employed for Hollister, Inc. in Kirksville, until retiring in 2014.

Public visitation will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2024 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home with Carlos Coy presiding. Interment will follow the service at Greentop Cemetery in Greentop, MO.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Sullivan, Dillon Sullivan, Adam Billington, Brett Findling, Trevlar Lay, and John Gerhold. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim McClellan, Richard McBee, Billy Ertel, Jack Erwin, Ralph Miller, Mark Blacksmith, and Bill Lawrence.

Memorial donations in memory of Paul may be made to the Greentop Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
