John "J.B." Barron Lorey, 68, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at his home under Hospice care and with family by his side.

Born April 19, 1955 in Edina, Missouri, J.B. was the son of the late James and Viola (Kilbride) Lorey. He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law Danny Maggart. On September 18, 1999 in Kirksville, Missouri J.B. was united in marriage to Theresa Jones.

J.B. is survived by his his wife Theresa of twenty-four years; two sons and daughters-in-law, Marty and Traci Jones, and Bryan and Emily Jones all of Kirksville, MO; one sister, Melinda Maggart of Kirksville, MO four grandchildren, Derek Jones, Denton Jones, Tiffany Sayre and Gracie Jones; two great-grandchildren, Trinity and Braxton Sayre; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

J.B. was a graduate from Kirksville High School with the Class of 1973. He was employed thirty years at Standard Register before going to work for the City of Kirksville, retiring in 2019.

J.B. loved playing old records, listening to music, and watching movies. He enjoyed golfing, and always said you golf everyday that ends in Y, (which meant everyday of the week!), going to gun shows with his longtime friend Richard Baker, and deer hunting at Bible Grove with John Fredricks and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Monsignor Marion Makarewicz presiding. Masonic Services following. Interment with military honors will be held at Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.

J.B. was a member of Masonic Lodge 105 AFAM in 1978, Harry S. Truman Memorial Class of the York Rite in 1979, Shrine El Kadir Moila Temple, and life time member of the Moose Lodge in 1979, Scottish Rite in 1980, Master of Kirksville Lodge 105 AFAM in 1986, Governor of the Moose Lodge from 2002-2004, President of Shrine in 2013, VFW Post American Legion #2508 in 2022, and Marine Corp in 1975.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, November 18, 2023 from noon to service time at 2:00 in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Shane Rowland, Brian Fenton, Greg Howard, Eric Green, Terry Simpson, and Eldon Grissom.

Memorial donations in memory of J.B. may be made to Hospice of Northeast Missouri and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
