Anna Frances (Buress) Eagen, 87, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

Born December 30, 1935 in Kirksville, Missouri, Anna was the daughter of the late Archie Delbert and Maxine Leta (Rigdon) Buress. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Richard Buress, one great-grandchild, Brantley Kyle Bower, and her brother-in-law, Cecil Robertson.

On September 28, 1956 in Kirksville, Missouri, Anna was united in marriage to Joseph Ernest Eagen who preceded her in death on November 27, 1993.

Anna is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Mary Eagen of Columbia, MO; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Jason Powell of Quincy, IL; one sister, Deta Robertson of O'Fallon, MO; sister-in-law, Ute Buress; five grandchildren, Samara (Eagen) Caldwell and husband, Lonny, Hannah (Eagen) Burke and husband Daltyn, Kyle Bower and Lauren McCoy, Holly Kite, and Keanan Kite, ten great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

Anna attended Greenwood School through the sixth grade at which time the family moved to a farm southwest of Brashear, MO. Anna graduated from Brashear High School in 1953. She moved to Quincy, IL, where she attended Gem City Business College. After earning her certificate there, she began working in the insurance department of Farm Bureau office in Quincy. After her husband was drafted and went to Korea, Anna returned to live with her parents near Brashear. She worked in the business office of the Kirksville State Teacher's College (now Truman State University). When her children entered grade school, Anna went to work in the Reed Construction Company for a time, and then started working as a secretary at Kirksville Junior High in the Ophelia Parrish building on the college campus. Anna spent the next thirty-five years working in the Office at the Middle School, retiring in 2007. Anna beat cancer twice and volunteered to fill in as needed at the church office of First United Methodist Church where sHe was a member. Anna's passion became crocheting prayer shawls for the cancer support group in her church.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023 with Reverend Scott Beard officiating. Interment will follow the service at Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, October 21, 2023 from noon to 2:00 p.m. service time in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Keanan Kite, Kyle Bower, Kaleb Caldwell, Daltyn Burke, Jason Powell, and Michael Eagen

Memorial donations in memory of Anna may be made to the Adair County Humane Society and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.

I am sorry to learn of Anna's passing! She was always so friendly and kind! Her parents, Archie & Maxine were among my dearest friends & neighbors so many years ago at Brashear and Cecil was a Cousin on my Dad's side of the family (Joe Shelton). Prayers for peace & comfort for all of her family!
