Joan (Thomas) Elmore, 86, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021 at the University Missouri Medical Center in Columbia, MO.

Joan was born June 10, 1935 in Knox County, Missouri, the daughter of the late John D. and Ida H. (Crawford) Thomas. She was united in marriage to Francis Edward Elmore who preceded her in death on October 8, 1977.

After receiving her education, Joan was employed for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for several years. From 1991 to 1998, Joan served as the Adair County Clerk and then retired.

Joan was a member of the Adair County Democrat Club and served many years on the board of Highland Park Cemetery of Kirksville.

Public visitation will be held Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Ralph Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.
