Harold Edwin Simmons, 78, of LaPlata, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at his home.

Born March 12, 1943 in Oakland Mills, Iowa, Harold was the son of the late Dale Barton and Vesta Mae (Hummell) Simmons. On February 26, 1983 in Kirksville, Missouri, Harold was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Kelley.

Harold is survived by his wife Sharon of thirty-seven years; four grandchildren, Quade and Daegan Simmons, Zain Cornelson, and Nya Carroll; as well as several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Meghan Simmons.

Harold was a graduate from Ft. Madison High School in Ft. Madison, Iowa. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. For the past forty years Harold resided in Kirksville and LaPlata and worked for Harmon's IGA and Welch's IGA. Harold also attended the bar and Shamrock and Kirksville Moose Lodge.

Harold enjoyed collecting coins, word games, being on the water boating, and playing cards.

Harold was a member of the Kirksville Moose Lodge #1751.

It was Harold's wish to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
