Dwayne Lee Spangler, 88, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019 at The Pines in Kirksville, Missouri.

Born March 15, 1931 in Kirksville, Missouri, Dwayne was the son of the late Roy Lee and Dessie May (Walden) Spangler. On November 6, 1955 in Kirksville, Missouri, Dwayne was united in marriage to Catherine Lintner.

Dwayne is survived by his wife Catherine of sixty-three years; one daughter, Donna Sue (Jerry) Hill of Kansas City, MO; three grandchildren, Kyle (Stephanie) Hill of Sedalia, MO, Jeffrey Hill of Olathe, KS, and Katelin (Aaron) Smith of Kansas City, MO, as well as two great-grandchildren, Michaela and Adalyn Smith.

Dwayne was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Michael and Mark Spangler; and one brother, Exal Spangler.

Dwayne was a life long resident of Kirksville and was a graduate from Kirksville High School with the Class of 1950. From October 2, 1951 to July 10, 1953, Dwayne served his country proudly during the Korean Conflict receiving the Korean Service Medal, 3 Bronze camp stars, the United Nations Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge and 2 OS Service Bars. After he was honorably discharged Dwayne returned home and until his retirement worked many years for the Kirksville Daily Express as a printer/press operator.

Dwayne has been cremated and he will be interred at later date at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.

Arrangements were taken care of by Travis-Noe Funeral Home of Kirksville.
