Kenneth "Wayne" "PeeWee" Johnson, 75, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at his home.

Born November 7, 1942 in Queen City, Missouri, Wayne was the son of the late Glen Earsal and Lela Pauline (Hubbard) Johnson. In 1962, Wayne married Charlene Mathes who preceded him in death. In 1966 he married Patricia Ann Blessing who also preceded Wayne in death. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Debbie Johnson; one sister, Barbara Joann Pruett, and two brothers, Larry and Gary Johnson.

Wayne is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Todd and Jonna Johnson of Greentop, MO; one daughter Minnie Ann Summers and fiancée Matt Sawyer of LaPlata, MO; three grandchildren, Tristian Summers, Taylor Ingerson and husband T.R., and Gunner Sawyer; four great-grandchildren, Hazel, Hagen, September and Taylor; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Wayne received his education in Kirksville public schools and lived most of his life in Adair County. He served in the United States Army. Wayne worked for Florsheim Shoe Factory for several years and had retired from working with the City of Kirksville.

Wayne had a great love for his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening, coon hunting, and was a member of the coon hunting association.

Public visitation will be held Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home with Pastor Virgil Jones officiating. Interment will follow the service at Refuge Cemetery in rural Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Orie Johnson, Jim Johnson, Doug Johnson, William Hubbard, Steve Johnson, Lonnie Saul, and Mike Corrick. Honorary pallbearers will be Dewey Rhodelander, Tim Sherman, Taylor Gillmore and Tanner Sherman.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Wayne Johnson may be made to the Refuge Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
