Martha Leah (True) Johnson, 83, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Kirksville Manor Care Center.

Born April 28, 1934 in Connelsville, Missouri, Martha was the daughter of the late Samuel Edgar and Velma Irene (Roe) True. On December 10, 1950 in Macon, Missouri, Martha was united in marriage to Delbert Cecil Johnson who preceded her in death on August 28, 2005. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Bud True, Roger "Bobby" True, and Weldon True, and two sisters, Mary Joe True and Bertha Billington.

Martha is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Debbie Johnson of Kirksville, MO, and Brenda and Joe Crump of LaPlata, MO; one son and daughter-in-law, Lt. Col. Delbert Christopher and Nickol Johnson of Champaign, IL; one sister, Keturah "Toots" Ridge of Ottumwa, IA; six grandchildren, Ryan McClain, Whitney Wilk, Skyler Wilk, Aleksia Johnson, Heath Johnson, and Gage Johnson; four great-grandchildren, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Martha was a life-long resident of Adair County and graduate from Novinger High School. She was employed at Rider Drug until 1953 when she received her cosmetology license at Kirksville College of Cosmetology. She opened her own business (Martha's Beauty Salon) where she was in business fifty years until 1983. In 1983 she received her realtor's license and became property manager of Woodwinds in Kirksville, and Huckleberry Heights in Hannibal, as well as working for J.P. King Auction Company as a traveling agent. Martha then went to work for Wood Rail Antique Mall in Kirksville and at the time of her death was working for My Favorite Memories Antique Shop.

Martha was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church of Kirksville.

Public visitation will be held Friday, February 16, 2018 with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, Missouri.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Gibson officiating. Interment will follow the service at Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bud Thompson, Jimmy Stewart, Ryan McClain, Mark Wray, Dr. Jim Gardner, Carol Pratt, Margaret DeVito, Cindy Thompson, and Nancy Learman.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Martha Johnson may be made to the Adair County Humane Society or to Hospice of Northeast Missouri, and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
