LoVeta May (Gillespie) Fitzpatrick, 83, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at the University Missouri Medical Center in Columbia, Missouri.

The daughter of Roy and Lola (Jackson) Gillespie, LoVeta was born April 19, 1934 in Kirksville, Missouri. In 1975, LoVeta was untied in marriage to John Joseph Fitzpatrick who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, John Fitzpatrick and one brother, Donald Gillespie.

LoVeta is survived by one son, Gary Fields of Colorado Springs, CO; four daughters, Debbie Moore of Kirksville, MO, Sharon Combs of Greentop, MO, Sandra Bass of Kirksville, MO, and Janice New of New Port News, VA; one brother, Kenneth Gillespie of Millard, MO; nine grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

LoVeta resided in Chicago a number of years where she worked as a waitress until moving to Kirksville, Missouri, to make her home in 1973. She then was employed for Hollister, Inc. eighteen years until her health failed in 1999.

LoVeta was a loving care giver to her mother and loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered as being a fun loving person to be around.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 2, 2017 with family receiving friends for one hour before the service in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville. Pastor Ralph Wheeler will officiate the service.

Interment will take place at a later date at Downing Cemetery in Downing, Missouri.
