Dale Eugene Lawson, 73, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Monday, December 4, 2017 at Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville.

Born May 21, 1944 in Green Castle, Missouri, Dale was the son of the late Burnice L. and Wilma K. (Billington) Lawson. On December 2, 1967 in Shibbly's Point, Dale was united in marriage to Ruth Fountain who preceded him in death on October 24, 2008. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Marilyn Potts; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herman and Pauline Fountain Sr.; and three brothers-in-law, Paul Jay Fountain, Harold Potts and Eugene Swisher.

Dale is survived by one son, Kevin Eugene Lawson of Kirksville, MO; one sister, Betty Swisher of Kirksville, MO; his special friend Clara Truitt of Kirksville, MO, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Dale was a graduate of Novinger High School with the Class of 1962 and was on the basketball team that went to State. In his young childhood days he was active in 4-H showing his own farm raised black angus show calves in which he was awarded many ribbons. While still attending high school he worked for Gouchers DX Service Station in Novinger, as well as on the family farm. Other places of employment before his marriage was Ruby Green Seed House, for a Pharmaceutical business in Kansas City, for a rock quarry in Ames, Iowa and when not working his pride and joy was working on and racing his 1966 GTO. After marriage he worked for Burns & Wheeler Masonry until going to work full time for Donaldson Company until the closing of their plant. He then began farming full time until semi retiring and turning the farming over to his son Kevin. Dale was a beloved husband and father and will be missed by many.

Dale enjoyed deer hunting, quail hunting, and fishing. He was a very active member of good standing with the Kirksville Moose Lodge #1751 and enjoyed playing cards.

Public visitation will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2017 with family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home, with Pastor Alan Coonfield officiating. Interment will follow the service at Jewel Cemetery, northwest of Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Stanley Page, Gary D. Jones, Jim Hamilton, Mike James, Loren Grissom, and Eugene Grgurich. Honorary pallbearers will be his nieces and nephews and friends of the Kirksville Moose Lodge.
