Allene Geanell (James) Mathes, 95, of Kirksville, Missouri passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

Born August 15, 1922 in Kirksville, Missouri, Allene was the daughter of the late Allen C. and Essie Wyetta (McClanahan) James. On November 18, 1939 in Kirksville, Missouri, Allene was united in marriage to Roy L. Mathes who preceded her in death on August 25, 1981. She was also preceded in death by three daughters, Linda Lonberger, Brenda Mason, and Roylene Barker; one sister, Helen Treasure, and one grandson, Cliston Barker Jr.

Allene is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Garry and Alice Kay Mathes of Greentop, MO; two daughters and son-in-law, Barbara Miller and Jaye of Kirksville, MO, and Anita and Cliston Barker of Greentop, MO; eleven grandchildren, David Mathes, Janet Reed, Julie Boyer, Lisa Todd, Terry Beets, Dawn Fisher, Rene Harkins, Sherry Reno, Tami Western-High, Roger Lonberger and Brandon Bergman; twenty-six great-grandchildren and ten great great-grandchildren, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Allene attended East Center School and Kirksville High School. She was a homemaker and worked by her husbands side on the farm. Allene enjoyed fishing and dancing, but most of all she loved time spent with her family.

Allene was a member of Women of the Moose Lodge, Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 2508 and East Center Church.

Public visitation will be held Friday, November 17, 2017 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home with Pastor Darrell Draper officiating. Interment will follow the service at East Center Cemetery, east of Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be David Mathes, Terry Beets, Roger Lonberger, Brandon Bergman, John Reno, and Jeff Boyer. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Reed, Chris Todd, Scott Fisher, Bryan High, Cliston Barker Jr., Jeff Bergman, and Jim Bergman.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Allene Mathes may be made to East Center Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
