Robert LaVerne Williams, 93, of Kirksville, Missouri passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

Robert was born in Reger, Missouri on September 29, 1922, the son of Myron "Pete" and Myrtel (Rardon) Williams. On July 21, 1945, he married Winnie E. Kyser in LaCross, Wisconsin, and to this union three children were born, Thomas, Herbert, and Janice.

Surviving are his wife Winnie of 70 years, son Tom (Marvina) Williams of Lee's Summit, MO; daughter Janice Williams of Green City, MO; and daughter-in-law Connie Williams of Greentop, MO; grandchildren John Williams of Bonaparte, IA; Doug Anderson (Dawn) of Greentop, MO; Melissa (Ryan) Snelling of Brashear, MO; and Jennifer (Don) Graham of Lee's Summit, MO; great-grandchildren Hailey Lawrence and Jace Snelling of Brashear, MO; Dylan Bowen of Denver, CO; Courtney Johnson of Harlem, GA; Tyler and Dillon Sullivan, and Emilee Anderson of Greentop, MO; Austin and Thomas Graham of Lee's Summit, MO; and sisters Geraldine Billington and Nadine (Melvin) Bunch all of Kirksville, MO; several nieces and nephews, two great-great grandchildren of Harlem, GA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Herbert Williams, brothers and sisters Arthur Clark, Derold Clark, Bessie Williams, Ida Rose Smith, Myrtle Williams, Herbert Williams, Patricia Williams, Virginia Adkins, Lois Baker, and Bonnie Webb.

Robert received his education in the Reger area and served in the Army Air Corp during WWII from 1943-1945. He loved his country and received the bronze star and victory medal. After the war, he and Winnie made their home in northeast Missouri where Robert farmed and drove a milk truck for several years. In the late 50's and early 60's he and his brother Herb operated Williams Sheet Metal and Furnace and later a JI Case Implement Dealership in Kirksville. For several years he worked at Weber Motors as a driver and mechanic. He also drove the mail truck during this time. Robert enjoyed driving the bus for the Kirksville School District and has probably driven many of you reading this. After retirement, in the 80's, Robert spent most of his time with his family, traveling, fishing, farming, playing solitaire on the computer, and checkers with is great-grandson Jace. He could drive anything on wheels and was a Jack of all trades. Robert will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Reverend William Hayton and Reverend Ralph Wheeler officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. Entombment with military honors will follow the service in Maple Hills Cemetery Chapel Mausoleum.

Pallbearers will be Larry Baker, Doug Anderson, Ryan Snelling, Jace Snelling, Shane Weber, and Shannon Weber. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Jerome, Ron Baker, Doug Billington, John Williams, Melvin Buuch, Bob Matheney and Ron Weber.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of God Holiness. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
