Denisha Freedom (Slaughter) Jayne, 55, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Friday (December 30, 2016) at her home.

Denisha was born December 12, 1961 in St. Charles, Missouri, the daughter of Dennis Joe Slaughter and Eloise Jayne Seaman.

Denisha is survived by her father Dennis Slaughter of St. Charles, MO; her mother, Eloise Jayne (Seaman) Barber of Freeport, IL; one son, Patrick Flanigan of Fancy Gap, VA; one daughter, Sunshine Flanigan of Greenfield, MA; one brother, Eric Slaughter of Alton, IL; two sisters, Lisa Folgate & husband Steve of Orangeville, IL and Jana Barber of Los Angeles, CA; two grandchildren, Tazmine and Emilee of Greenfield, MA, as well as four step sisters, one step brother, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Denisha was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joe and Laura Slaughter and Bernice and Mabel Seaman.

Denisha was a high school graduate from Freeport High School in Freeport, IL with the Class of 1980 and graduated from Sacramento State University in California earning a degree in accounting/finance. After graduation from college, Denisha was employed for an accounting firm in Dallas, TX. She later moved to Greenfield, MA where she owned a painting and jewelry business. For the past fifteen years, Denisha resided in New Boston and Kirksville. She loved craft's, art work and dancing. Denisha also loved growing herbs and flowers that she enjoyed selling at the Farmers Market.

While residing in Freeport, Illinois, Denisha was a member of the high school swim team, was active in theater and other arts, and was camp councilor a number of years for the YMCA. Denisha was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Freeport, where she was very active in the youth group.

Denisha has been cremated and services will be held at a later date. Arrangements were taken care of by Travis-Noe Funeral Home of Kirksville.
