Geraldine F. (Benshoof) Hamilton, 94, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the LaPlata Nursing Home in LaPlata, Missouri.

She was born on March 13, 1921 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Helen (Cook) Benshoof. She later moved to Missouri where she married Calvin Powell and to this union four children were born. Geraldine later married Marion Hamilton.

Geraldine is survived by four children, Robert Powell (Neva) of Kirksville, MO, Judith Mikel of Brookline, MO, Terry Powell (Barbara) of Laramie, WY, and Brenda Rogers (Adrian) of Sanford, FL; one brother, Jim Maize of Kirksville, MO; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, and several great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marion Hamilton; two brothers, Jack Benshoof and Harley Maize; one grandson, Jerry Gail Mikel, as well as several aunts and uncles.

Geraldine was employed fifteen years for McGraw Edison. She loved her rose garden, reading and sewing. She will be greatly missed by her family.

She was a member of Hamilton Street Baptist Church where she taught Bible school.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, (February 1, 2016) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville. Family will receive friends on Monday, February 1, 2016, for one hour before service time. Interment will follow the service at Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Powell, Troy Smith, Tim Maize, Harley Maize, and Jimmy Maize. Honorary pallbearers will be Christine Brickman and Amy VanSickel.
