H.L. (Pete) Taylor, 90, of Brashear, Missouri, passed away Friday, August 28, 2015 at Kirksville Manor Care Center.

Born in Brashear, Missouri, on September 27, 1924, Pete was the youngest son of W.D. (Dick) and Lottie Jewel (Moots) Taylor.

Pete lived all his life in the Hazel Green Community except for three years in Benton, Kansas. He attended elementary school at Hazel Green and graduated from Brashear High School in 1943. He was a farmer and farmed in the Hazel Green community. One of the joys of his life was taking his equipment and crew to Kansas, Oklahoma and Colorado for annual wheat harvest which he did for many years. Many enjoyable hours went spent fishing, hunting, and hosting fish fries for friends and family at his home.

Pete was a long time member of the NRA. He was featured in the American Rifleman as the first individual to create a charitable gift annuity with the NRA Foundation. He helped to establish a new Friends of NRA committee in his area.

Pete made his commitment to Christ at age 19 and was a faithful member of the Hazel Green Church until its closing.

Pete is survived by nieces Phyllis Doctorian (David) and Jana Martin (Jim), nephews Garry Taylor (Linda) and Stephen Taylor (Judy), sister-in-law Georgina Taylor as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Frank and Ferrell Taylor.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at Travis-Noe Funeral Home with family receiving friends for one hour before the service. Interment will follow at Brashear Cemetery in Brashear, Missouri.
