Brenda Joyce (Mathes) Mason, 61, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Monday (June 8, 2015) at the University Missouri Medical Center in Columbia, Missouri.

The daughter of Roy Lee and Allene Geanell (James) Mathes, she was born January 6, 1954 in Kirksville, Missouri. Brenda was previously married to James Bergman and to this union one son, Brandon was born.

Brenda is survived by her mother, Allene Mathes of Kirksville, MO; one son, Brandon Bergman of Kirksville, MO; two step-sons, Jim and Jeff Bergman both of Kirksville, MO; one brother and sister-in-law, Garry and Alice Kay Mathes of Greentop, MO; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Barbara Miller of Kirksville, MO and Anita and Cliston Barker of Greentop, MO, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father; two sisters, Linda Sue Lonberger and Roylene Barker, and one nephew, Cliston Paul Barker Jr.

Brenda was a graduate from Kirksville High School with the Class of 1971. In the early 90's she owned and operated B-Bar-B Western Store in Kirksville.

She enjoyed many hobbies, including barrel racing, horses, deer hunting, fishing, cooking, sitting around camp fires, telling stories, rodeo's, horse racing, and NASCAR races. In the 1971 Brenda was first runner up Rodeo queen and was a member of Northeast Missouri Trail Riders.

Public visitation will be held Thursday (June 11, 2015) with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday (June 12, 2015) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home, with Reverend Darrell Draper officiating. Interment will follow the service at East Center Cemetery, east of Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Terry Beets, Jeff Bergman, Jim Bergman, Casey Keim, Roger Lonberger and Larry Newman.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Brenda Mason may be made to East Center Cemetery. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
