Ellis “Wayne” Young, 87, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Saturday (February 7, 2015) at his home.

The son of Everett Dale and Leland Alta (Ivie) Young, he was born December 5, 1927 in Yarrow, Missouri. On May 28, 1954 in Kirksville, Wayne was united in marriage to Dorothy Eaton.

Wayne is survived by his wife Dorothy of sixty years; one son, Robert Wayne Young of Maysville, MO; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon Elaine and Gary Trueblood of Kirksville, MO; one sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Don Jepson of Green Castle, MO; seven grandchildren, Kevin Wayne and Diana Skaggs, Christy and Phillip Mein, Cathy Young, Kody Snider and friend Colby Thrailkill, Kasey and Lacey Snider, Clint Young and Shane Skaggs; six great-grandchildren, Seth and Alise Mein, Ashton, Aden and Aaren Snider, Hailey Snider, Piper Young, Anthony Chambers and Timothy Garett; four sisters-in-law, Mary Welch and husband Eugene of Macon, MO, Trayetta Eaton of Macon, MO, Willa Gaunt of Brookfield, MO, and Della Jean Eaton of Macon, MO; one brother-in-law, William Eaton of Callao, MO, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Wayne received his education in the Mt. Zion rural school and Kirksville public schools. He farmed and raised Black Angus Cattle for many years and sold seed for thirty years for Pioneer, Wilcrose and Ascrow. While selling seed, Wayne met many people and enjoyed his visits.

Wayne loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Public visitation is in progress and family will receive friends this evening, Monday (February 9, 2015) from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday (February 10, 2015) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home with Alan Whittom officiating. Interment will follow the service at Union Temple Cemetery, southwest of Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Garrett, Andy Whittom, Kody Snider, Kasey Snider, Shane Skaggs, Danny Mathes and Anthony Chambers.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Wayne Young may be made to the Union Temple Church. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
