Gene Spalding, 83, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Saturday (August 23, 2014) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The son of Romuald and Ruby (Cook) Spalding, he was born September 29, 1930 in Farmington, Kentucky. On November 22, 1950, Gene was united in marriage to Robye Riley.

Gene is survived by his wife Robye of sixty-four years; two sons, Mike Spalding of Dayton, OH and James Spalding of Kirksville, MO; two daughters, Jan Moore of Scottsdale, AZ and Anna Broyles of Kirksville, MO; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Gene was a graduate of Farmington High School in Farmington, Kentucky and received a degree at St. Bernard College in Cullman, Alabama. Gene was a well known businessman in Kirksville since 1966. He loved his family and everyone loved Gene. Gene was a good husband and father.

It was Gene’s wish to be cremated. His family will receive friends during a public visitation on Tuesday (August 26, 2014) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.
