Wanda Louise (Parmley) Simler, 75, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday (March 6, 2014) at the University Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

The daughter of Cecil Paul and Trella Emma (Dimmitt) Parmley, she was born July 19, 1938 in Green Castle, Missouri. On June 24, 1956 in rural Green Castle, Missouri, Wanda was united in marriage to Eldon Keith Simler.

Wanda is survived by her husband Keith of fifty-seven years; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Sandi Simler of Kirksville, MO and Paul and Kristi Simler of Sperry, MO; one brother and sister-in-law, Warner and Rose Parmley of Green Castle, MO; six grandchildren, Jennifer McGlothlin and husband Robert of Oak Harbor, WA, Nathan Simler of Kirksville, MO, Wesley Simler and wife, Celia of Kirksville, MO, Justin Simler of Kirksville, MO, Haleigh Simler of Kirksville, MO and Eliott Simler of Kirksville, MO; three great-grandchildren, Rian McGlothlin and Jaida McGlothlin both of Oak Harbor, WA and Addison Simler of Kirksville, MO; two sisters-in-law, Mavis Young of Kirksville, MO and Neva Jean Barnhill of Conroe, TX, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Wanda lived most all of her life in Western Adair County, and was a graduate from Novinger High School with the Class of 1957. She sold Stanley Home Products for over forty years, worked at the Gas Station in Simlerville and last owned and operated Simler Dog Kennel, LLC for a number of years.

She was a longtime leader of Liberty 4-H Club, enjoyed quilting, and in the past enjoyed raising chickens, gardening and canning.

Wanda was a member of the Union Temple Church of Kirksville.

Public visitation will be held Sunday (March 9, 2014) after 4:00 p.m., with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday (March 10, 2014) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Alan Whittom officiating. Interment will follow the service at Union Temple Cemetery, in southwestern Adair County.

Pallbearers will be Art Simler, Darrell Simler, Abdon Navarro, Leo Leon, Donnie Yantis and Darrin Jones. Honorary bearers will be Wanda’s grandchildren and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Temple Church, Union Temple Cemetery or to Pratt Cemetery. Memorials may be left at mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
