Michael Eugene Small, 67, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday (February 25, 2014) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The son of Wayne J. and Charlene Isabell (Tallman) Small, he was born August 20, 1946 in Centerville, Iowa.

Michael is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, David M. and Glenda Small of Blue Springs, MO; three daughters and one son-in-law, Evelyn R. and Billy Shuey of Hartford, IA, Tammy L. Lutjen of Blue Springs, MO and Laura Beth Small of Kansas City, MO; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Charles W. Small of Green City, MO and James E. Sherry Small of Purdin, MO; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Nadine K. and Frank Shores of Kansas City, MO, Cathy A. (Small) and Chuck Wise of Oak Grove, MO and Janet L. and Joe Hoffman of Oak Grove, MO; nine grandchildren Cheyenne Hyle, Ariele Michalec, Brooklyn Small, Dalany Small, Johnathan Metcalf, Candice Chick, Dakota Jacobs, Connor Katchmarik and Keelan Katchmarik; one great-grandchild, Harper Hyle; one sister-in-law, Linda Small of Lancaster, MO; his best friend, Jan Fishback of Kirksville, MO, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Connie Davidson and Lisa Small and one brother, Dennis Small.

Michael moved to Kirksville, Missouri, from Independence and began working as Deputy Sherriff of Adair County until retiring in 2009 after twenty-eight years of service.

Michael loved the great outdoors, fishing, hunting and traveling.

He was a member of Kirksville Moose Lodge #1751.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday (February 28, 2014) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Interment will follow the service at Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri.

Family will receive friends on Friday (February 28, 2014) for one hour before the service in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Connor Katchmarik, Steven Nix, Matthew Hoffman, Chris Hoffman, Tylar Hatfield, Geoff Katchmarik, Randy Martin and Jeff Tallman.
