Billy Dean Griswold, 78, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Thursday (January 9, 2014) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The son of Frank Herman and Eunice Edna (Wilson) Griswold, he was born December 10, 1935 in Brashear, Missouri. On November 23, 1955 in Kirksville, Missouri, Billy was united in marriage to Juanita “Louise” Ledford who preceded him in death on January 18, 2013.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Tom Griswold.

Billy is survived by one son, Steve D. Griswold of Kirksville, MO; one daughter and son-in-law, Tina M. and Dennis Peterson of Auxvasse, MO; three brothers, Bob Griswold of Raytown, MO, Donnie Griswold and wife Virginia of Queen City, MO and Jack Griswold of Littleton, CO; five sisters, Louise Elcknier of Kirksville, MO, Betty Jones of Kirksville, MO, Bonnie Pope and husband, Jim of Owasso, OK, Darlene Jackson and husband, Leroy of Moberly, MO and Leona Tharp and husband, Dave of Rolla, MO; three grandchildren, Stacy Rust, Hadassah Peterson and Kami Peterson, and one great-grandchild, Avery Rust.

Billy lived most of his life in Kirksville and was employed over thirty years as a carpenter for Harold Sevits.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering in his garage and spending time at his cabin.

Billy was a member of Kirksville Moose Lodge and of the Carpenter’s Union.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday (January 13, 2014) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Dennis Peterson officiating. Music selections will be “Precious Memories”, “Old Rugged Cross” and “How Great Thou Art”.

Family will receive friends on Monday (January 13, 2014) from noon to 2:00 p.m. service time in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville. Interment will follow the service at Green Castle Cemetery in Green Castle, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be Tony Jones, Matt Ledford, Rich Harden, Randy McKim, Heath Rust and Darell Athon.
