Ruby Elain Long, 92, of Kahoka, Missouri, formerly of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Sunday (April 21, 2013) at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka.

The daughter of Rass Fountain and Kate Kathyrn (Hedricks) Sizemore, she was born January 2, 1921 in Green Castle, Missouri. On October 4, 1939 in Winigan, Missouri, Ruby was united in marriage to Cecil W. Long who preceded her in death on May 24, 1993.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Ronald Long; one grandson, Randal Long; four brothers, Murl Morelock, Clyde Sizemore, Dale Bradford and Floyd Sizemore, as well as four sisters, Dorthy Ballew, Pauline Clemens, Eva Schott and Goldie Wilson.

Ruby is survived by three sons, Mitchell Long and fiancé, Veva Hagge of Wayland, MO, Richard Long and wife, Judy of Keokuk, IA and Dewey Long and wife, Janet of Edina, MO; one sister, Betty Bliss of Lincoln, NE; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Ruby received her education in the South Crawford rural school. She resided with her husband on a farm most of their working life south of Downing, and Ruby was employed a number of years at the Scotland County Care Center. Ruby had resided in the town of Kahoka since 1987.

She was an avid garage seller, loved ceramics and enjoyed making dolls.

Ruby was a member of the McAdow Church in Scotland County.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday (April 27, 2013) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, Missouri, with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Interment will follow the service at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.

Public visitation will be held on Saturday (April 27, 2013) for one hour before the service in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Kelly Long, Mike Long, Keith Long, Preston Moore, Dylan Douglas and Bryce Long.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Ruby Long may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
