Barton Thomas “Tom” Kirkpatrick, 62, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Saturday (March 16, 2013) at his home.

The son of Boyd William and Mamie Pearl (Young) Kirkpatrick, he was born June 6, 1950 in Kirksville, Missouri. On November 10, 2001, Tom was united in marriage to Louise Ann Wilhelmsen.

Tom is survived by his wife Louise of the home; two sons, Barton T. Kirkpatrick Jr. of Warner Robins, GA and Daniel Lee Kirkpatrick of Tulsa, OK; two daughters, Shawna Frye of Kirksville, MO and Tonya Kirkpatrick of Warner Robins, GA; two brothers, Harold Kirkpatrick of Kirksville, MO and Buryl Kirkpatrick of Haywood, CA; four sisters, Mary Comstock of Eldon, MO, Martha Eichor of Eldon, MO, Betty Christman of Kirksville, MO and Barbara Barnhill of Kirksville, MO; thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, William, David, and Dennis Kirkpatrick, and his step-father, Dale VanOrmer.

Tom received his education in the rural schools in Greentop, Missouri. He served his country in the United States Army. Tom resided in Eldon, Missouri, until moving to Kirksville in 2000. He was employed twelve years as a meet inspector at Farm Land Foods in Milan, Missouri.

Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, music and spending time with family and friends.

Public visitation will be held Wednesday (March 20, 2013), with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday (March 21, 2013) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor John Howell officiating. Interment will follow the service at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Tom Kirkpatrick, Danny Kirkpatrick, Myron Kirkpatrick, Steven Frye, Jeff May and Nathan Thompson.
