Darrel Curtis Gregory, 62, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Monday (January 21, 2013) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The son of James Vernon and Garnet Lillian (Grubb) Gregory, he was born February 23, 1950 in Waterloo, Iowa. On September 29, 1972 in Kirksville, Missouri, Darrel was united in marriage to Cathy Dawn Blacksmith.

Darrel is survived by his wife Cathy of forty years; one son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Megan Gregory of Columbia, MO; one daughter and son-in-law, Trevia and Brandon May of Columbia, MO; one brother, Rick Gregory of Edina, MO; three grandchildren, Kenadie and Kalin May and Tristin Gregory; his father-in-law, Emmet Blacksmith of Kirksville, MO; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lynn and Ted Kellison of Kirksville, MO; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Lena Blacksmith of Kirksville, MO; a close family friend, Brooke Salter of Brashear, MO, as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Douglas and Chester Gregory; his mother-in-law, Leota Blacksmith; one nephew, Jason Davis and one niece, Trisha Gregory.

Darrel resided in Brashear, Missouri, and was a graduate from Adair County RII with the Class of 1968. He enjoyed farming for many years on a farm near Brashear, where he also loved hunting and fishing. His other hobby he enjoyed greatly was tractor pulling. Darrel loved time spent with his grandchildren.

Darrel was a present member of the Kirksville Lodge 105 A.F. & A.M. and past member of the Kirksville Moose Lodge #1751.

Public visitation will be held Friday (January 25, 2013) from noon until 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Graveside service with military honors will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday (January 25, 2013) at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be Larry Howard, Cory Stark, Jason Stark, Doug Thomas, Tim Kellison and Ted Kellison.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Central Missouri Honor Flight. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
