Elaine Joyce (Grubrich) Scott, 73, of Novinger, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly, Friday (December 14, 2012) at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri.

The daughter of Vance and Leoma (Graham) Grubrich, she was born January 26, 1939 in Kirksville, Missouri. On June 7, 1958 in Kirksville, Missouri, Elaine was united in marriage to Gayle Scott.

Elaine is survived by her husband Gayle of fifty-four years; one daughter, Charlotte Bailey and special friend, Doug Hanson of Kirksville, MO; one brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Beverly Grubrich of Novinger, MO; five grandchildren, Colton Scott and wife April, Heather Scott, Brittany Huffman, Bridgette Bailey and fiancé, Tom Hays Jr. and Kolby Bailey; one great grandchild, Christopher Huffman, one aunt, Betty Ewing of Kirksville, MO, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Rodney Scott.

Elaine was a graduate from Novinger High School with the Class of 1957 and attended Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and proud grandmother who loved spending time with her family. Elaine loved working along side of her husband at their farm, working with all of her animals, she loved her horses, decorating wedding cakes, sewing, cooking, camping and going to the NEMO Fair, where they camped many years.

She was a Novinger Town & Country 4-H Leader, member of the Mulberry Extension Club, was a member of the Ladies of the Moose and of the Mary Immaculate Catholic Church of Kirksville.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Tuesday (December 18, 2012) at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Kirksville, with Father Chris Cordes presiding. Music selections, “On Eagles Wings”, “Song of Farewell” and “Be Not Afraid” will be provided by Janelle Bradshaw who will accompanied by Dianthe Cable, organist. Interment will follow the Mass at Mt. Moriah Cemetery south of Novinger.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Wake Service held 7:00 p.m. Monday (December 17, 2012) in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Wilson, Kobly Bailey, Colton Scott, Tom Hays Jr., Drew Luman and Todd Smith. Honorary bearers will be Gary Jones, Larry Snow, Bob Brawner, John Allen, Marty Borrock, Frank Oberle and James E. Gardner.
