Darwin G. Sandstrom, 91, of Holt, Missouri, formerly of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday (August 19, 2014) at St. Alexius Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

The son of Claude and Eva (Stone) Sandstrom, he was born February 23, 1923 in Novinger, Missouri. On February 10, 1943 in Kirksville, Missouri, Darwin was united in marriage to Maxine Snow.

Darwin is survived by his wife Maxine of seventy-two years; one son, Darwin K. Sandstrom of Kansas City, MO; two daughters, Glenda S. Caton of Laphrop, MO and Cheryl L. Amos of Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Rapheal, Charlie and Alva and two sisters, Ola Blacksmith and Mary Minks.

Darwin was raised in the Novinger area. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Darwin worked as a car dealer for forty-one years for S&S Auto Sales in Holt, Missouri.

He was a member of the auto dealer’s association and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Graveside services with military honors will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday (August 23, 2014) at Lutz Cemetery, southwest of Novinger, Missouri, with Pastor Ralph Wheeler officiating.

Family will receive friends on Saturday (August 23, 2014) for one hour before the graveside service in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.
