Marvin Lewis Gregory, 90, of Greentop, Missouri, passed away Sunday (November 30, 2014) at Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, Missouri.

The son of Luther and LouElla (Buchanan) Gregory, he was born October 20, 1924 in Greentop, Missouri. On March 8, 1947 in Star, North Carolina, Marvin was united in marriage to Mildred Louise Colvard who preceded him in death in November of 1989. On April 18, 1992 in Greentop, Missouri, Marvin married Kay (Capps) Brown.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Kay of the home; one son, David Colvard Gregory of Cedar Rapids, IA; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Jean and Craig Johnson of Sherwood, OR and Nancy Ellen and Arlin Sorensen of Harlan, IA; one step-son, Roger Brown and wife Bonnie of Griffin, GA; four grandchildren, Aaron Johnson and wife Joanne, Derek Johnson, Peter Sorensen and wife Megan, Laurie Sorensen; four great-grandchildren, Micah Sorensen, Elias Sorensen, Elizabeth Sorensen and Jude Sorensen; one step granddaughter, Ashley (Brown) Walker and husband Chris, niece, Linda Gregory of LaPlata, MO, as well as other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Max Gregory.

Marvin graduated from Greentop High School. He served his country in the United States Army with the 11th Armored Division during WWII, from 1944 to 1946. From 1962 to 1988, Marvin was employed as an electronic technician for Rockwell-Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. While in Cedar Rapids Marvin worked with Youth for Christ. In 1990, Marvin returned to Greentop, Missouri, to make his home and enjoy his farm. He will be remembered for being a big prankster.

Marvin served fourteen years on the Fugate Cemetery Board and was a member of Grace Community Bible Church of Kirksville.

It was Marvin’s wish to be cremated and a Memorial service will be held to honor his life on Friday (December 5, 2014) at 10:30 a.m. at the Grace Community Bible Church in Kirksville, with Pastor Bob Shaffer presiding. Marvin will be interred at a later date at Fugate Cemetery near Greentop, Missouri.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Marvin Gregory may be made to Grace Community Bible Church or to Fugate Cemetery. Memorials may be left at Grace Community Bible Church on Friday during the Memorial service or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
