Norma Lee (Mullanix) Williams, 81, of Greentop, Missouri, passed away Tuesday (June 4, 2013) unexpectedly at her home.

The daughter of Basil and Willie (Briddle) Mullanix, she was born April 7, 1932 in Kirksville, Missouri. On May 21, 1948 in Kirksville, Missouri, Norma was united in marriage to Johnnie Williams Jr.

Norma is survived by her husband, Johnnie; one daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and David Combs of Greentop, MO; one granddaughter, Leann Haynes and husband Reo of Greentop, MO; one grandson, Malcom Reo Haynes of Greentop, MO and her son-in-law, Rick Knott of Howard City, MI.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Debra Elaine Knott; three brothers, Johnnie, Pearl and Lyndon Mullanix and one sister, Dorthy Long.

Norma was a life long resident of Adair County, receiving her education in the Kirksville public schools. She went to Service with her husband Johnnie eleven months in Salberga, Austria and returned to make their home together in Green Castle. Norma was employed for Florsheim Shoe Factory from 1948 to 1961. She then spent a number of years at home taking care of her family and later moved north of Kirksville. Norma later returned to Florsheim Shoe Factory where she worked twenty-seven years until retiring.

Norma will be remembered for the love and devotion of her family, and by her grandchildren for being the greatest Namal ever. She also loved the LaPlata Nursing Home staff that became part of her family.

Norma collected chicken memorabilia, loved taking care of her Hibiscus and cats, and enjoyed Nascar racing.

She was a member of the V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary.

Public visitation is in progress and family will receive friends this evening, Thursday (June 6, 2013) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday (June 7, 2013) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Earl Baker officiating. Music selections “Beulah Land” and “In the Garden” will be provided by Twila Jones who will be accompanied by Dianthe Cable. Interment will follow the service at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be Billy White, Daniel Ferguson, Wayne Johnson, Randy Lumsden, Gary Blurton and Dennis Snyder. Honorary pallbearers will be Leann Haynes and Malcom Haynes.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Norma Williams may be made to the LaPlata Nursing Home. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.

Norma will be greatly missed. My heart goes to Johnnie and Vicky as well as the rest of the family. You two are forever in my heart..... So sorry for your loss.
