David Eugene West, 57, of Novinger, Missouri, passed away Friday (March 22, 2013) at his home.

He was the son of Charles K. and Vera M. (George) West, born February 13, 1956 in Milan, Missouri.

In May of 1975, David was united in marriage to Frances Keithley, in Milan, Missouri, and to this union one son was born, Matthew David West.

On February 5, 1994, David was married to his soul mate, best friend, and life partner, Teresa M. (Pearce) West in Kirksville, Missouri.

David is survived by his wife, Teresa of 19 years, one son, Matthew and wife, Kimberly of Florissant, MO, his mother-in-law, Joanne Pearce of Novinger, MO;one step-daughter, Janine Whitt and Fiancé Ryan Olson; two granddaughters, Rylee Paige and Lillian Grace; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Myrna West of Milan, MO, Kenny and Paula West of Springfield, MO and Brent West of Kirksville, MO; four nephews, Nathan West and wife Jamie, Darin West, Cody and Kelby West; two nieces, Selina Neizgoda and husband, Richard, and Amy Susanne Dahman and husband Doug; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Billy Joe and Sherril Pearce, Cena (Dottie) and Loren Hatfield and their families; one aunt, Darlene (Eanie) Richardson and husband Bill; one uncle, Jackie George, as well as great nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by all of his grandparents; one nephew, Brian C. West in 1980; his father, Charles in 1991; his mother, Vera in 2003; his father-in-law, Charles Pearce in 2010, as well as several aunts, uncles and a cousin, Todd Richardson in 1987.

David grew up in the Milan area, attending Milan C-2 School graduating with the Class of 1974. He moved to Kirksville and went to work for Montgomery Ward in the Auto Department. He later went to work for Wright Tire & Appliance where he was employed ten years. David went to work at Truman State University in 1991 and after twenty-two years of service retired due to ill health.

David was an avid Civil War buff and a John Wayne Admirer and collector. He loved sports, music, camping, and spending every free minute possible with his wife and family.

Public visitation will be held Tuesday (March 26, 2013) with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (March 27, 2013) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Dodson presiding and a Eulogy given by Dave Bruner. Interment will follow the service at Novinger Cemetery in Novinger, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be Richard Barnes, Greg Brown, Dave Bruner, Tim King, Louie McKim and Richard Morelock.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of David West may be made to Hospice of Northeast Missouri. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.

So sorry to hear about David's passing. Although we had not been in contact with him for many years, he was considered a great classmate of "74" and friend. Our thoughts are with the family as they deal with the void left behind.

Sorry to hear of David's death, and his recent health problems. We had lost touch with each other, but I remember him fondly from high school. Jeff Taylor Milan class of '74
