Charles "Chuck" Fredrick Werhan

Charles "Chuck" Fredrick Werhan

-

Charles F. Werhan, 77, of Greentop, Missouri, went to be with the Lord on July 31, 2012.

He was born August 28, 1934, in West Union, Iowa, the son of Alfred and Eleanor Werhan. On February 4, 1966 in Waterloo, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Jessie Jones.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Jessie, one son and daughter-in-law, Bryce and Amanda Werhan of Republic, MO; stepdaughters: Linda Jones of Illinois, and Sandy Fookes and her husband Jim of Indiana; by his granddaughter, Jess; three grandsons, Tim, Andy and Corey Fookes, and seven step great-grandchildren; Jack, Tess, Malena, Henry, Will, Ethan and Liam; two brothers, Jim Werhan and wife Sherry and Pat Werhan all of West Union, IA, and three sisters, Ruth Werhan of Waukon, IA, Ann Moen and husband Duane of Decorah, IA, and Mary Wilbur of Fayette, IA.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and David Werhan and a brother-in-law, Harold.

Chuck was an avid sports lover and enjoyed, not only playing sports growing up, but also attending many games. As a young man, he would often take his brothers to the games and then he and his son could be seen many nights watching and discussing the many teams they followed. (Go Hawks!)

He was a hard worker and could always be found working outside no matter the weather. Fishing, hunting and gardening were a few of his many hobbies. As a young man, he enjoyed Turkey Farming with his Dad and brother, Jim. They even won the distinction of “Turkey Farmers of the Year”. He enjoyed going to the Sale Barn each week and had friends everywhere he went.

Chuck worked at the John Deere plant in Waterloo, Iowa for 27 years and retired on July 30, 1993. After retiring, he and his family moved to Greentop, where he worked several part-time jobs to include being a Wal-Mart greeter (always a smile on his face) and at Walker Homes. He worked hard to make a beautiful “ranch” in the country for his family. Husband, Dad and Grandpa, you were so loved and will be greatly missed. We are comforted to know that you have peace now, free of pain, and reunited with you family in Heaven.

Visitation will be held Thursday (August 2, 2012) from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, Missouri.

Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday (August 3, 2012) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home, with Pastor John Howell presiding. Interment will follow the service at the Green Castle Cemetery in Green Castle, MO.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Chuck Werhan may be made to the Hazel Creek Free Will Baptist Church. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
