Terry “Joe” Western, 64, of Greentop, Missouri, passed away Monday (July 2, 2012) at Harry S. Truman V.A. Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

The son of Donald James and Ellena Blanche (Scott) Western, he was born October 18, 1947 in Kirksville, Missouri. On April 5, 1970 in Greentop, Missouri, Joe was united in marriage to Lola Gay Pearce.

Joe is survived by his wife Lola of forty-two years; his mother, Ellena Western of Greentop, MO; one daughter and son-in-law, Jodi and Bobby Crawford of Kirksville, MO; one brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Dolly Western of Greentop, MO; one sister, Jane Maulfair of Emmaus, PA; two grandchildren, Pearce and Whitley Crawford both of Kirksville, MO; nieces and nephews, Shane and Shelley Western, Shawn and Chad Hudson, Mandy Weidenhammer and Gery and Jenny Maulfair, as well as several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Joe resided most of his life in Greentop, Missouri, where he was a graduate from Greentop High School with the Class of 1965. He served his country in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and two Overseas Bars. After being honorably discharged in 1973, Joe returned home where he began working in construction for W.L. Miller and last for Tomich Construction Company.

Joe’s hobbies included playing cards, hunting, truck and tractor pulls and he loved spending time on his farm working with his livestock.

He was a member of V.F.W. Post 2508 and of Kirksville Moose Lodge 1751.

Public visitation will be held Thursday (July 5, 2012) from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday (July 5, 2012) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor John Davison presiding. Interment with military rites will follow the service at Greentop Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ed Scott, Dale Miller, Dave Pierson, Ryan Garrison, Fred Schwaner, Bo Western and Gunner Western.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Joe Western may be made to the Kirksville D.A.V. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
